Commander José Luis García Teodor has honored the Peruvian Navy with his service for 22 years. Following his entry into the Navy in 1995, his experience led to his appointment as Chief of the Logistical Department on the training ship BAP in 2000, followed by his time as the Second Commander of BAP in 2001. His realized studies include a qualification of Surface Warfare (2002) as well as a qualification in Surface Weapons (2008). Upon the completion of his studies, he built up significant experience at BAP between 2003 and 2008: as the Communications and Navigation Officer (2003), then as the Head of the Mobile and Fixed Stations (2004), during which he also advanced to Second Lieutenant, as well as the Head of the Department of Disaster Control at BAP in 2008, amongst other intermediary positions.
Since his appointment as the Head of the Logistics Department 2010 at BAP, he was promoted as the Head of the Armament Department in 2011, followed by Second Commander in 2015. Within this time, Commander García Teodor also graduated from the ESCALO School of Qualification of Surface Weapons (2009) and the EOFFAA School of Officers of the Armed Forces (2012). In 2013 and 2014, he was appointed head of the Personnel Section of COMOPERAMA and of COMFAS (2016). He was promoted to Commander on the 1st of January 2016.
In 2016, he completed a Specialist Basic Course in Response to Chemical Warfare Agents and Toxic Chemical Industrial Substances of Latin America and the Caribbean (2016); the Fifth Regional Advanced Course to Respond to Chemical Emergencies (2016); Fourth Regional Exercise on Assistance and Protection against Chemical Weapons for the States Parties of Latin America and the Caribbean (2016); and he participated in a Simulation exercise for the improvement of Maritime and Port Protection (2017).
Most recently, in 2017, he completed an Advanced Training Workshop to respond to Emergencies with Chemical Weapons and other Weapons of Mass Destruction (2017). Since January 2017, and to this day, he is serving as the sub-director of Land Transport (DITRANAV).
During his time in the Navy, Commander José Luis García Teodor, was awarded a distinction for the following: for his distinguished Academic Background, His Services Provided for the Operational Forces (3era Vez), for ‘Distintivo Zonas Navaler’ and finally, distinguished for his performance as the Commander in charge of the Unit (1era Vez).
Notably, Commander José Luis García Teodor, has been decorated with the “CABALLERO” Order of the Peruvian Cross of Naval Merit, in recognition of his outstanding Naval Merit.
