Job Responsibilities
As a Health Specialist – Real-Time Monitoring, you will play a crucial role in UNICEF’s health and immunization programs. Your responsibilities will include:
- Identifying and validating health and immunization program priorities: You will be responsible for identifying, documenting, and validating key priorities within UNICEF’s health and immunization programs. This involves determining specific interventions and activities that should be included in the digitalization of integrated campaigns, covering the pre-, intra-, and post-campaign phases.
- Reviewing and updating existing guidance, standards, and capacity building materials: You will review the current guidance, standards, and capacity building materials on Real-Time Monitoring (RTM). This includes consulting with stakeholders at various levels to validate materials and identify any gaps. Based on this review, you will develop a work plan to revise, update, finalize, package, and disseminate these materials as needed.
- Assessing digital health assets and planning tools: You will evaluate the existing digital health assets, health information systems, geographic information systems (GIS), and Real-Time Monitoring (RTM) assets and planning tools used by UNICEF and its partners. Based on your assessment, you will provide recommendations on what can be repurposed and packaged as a global good, as well as identify any gaps that need to be addressed.
- Developing guidance for integrating real-time monitoring into routine immunization information systems: You will create comprehensive guidance for integrating Real-Time Monitoring (RTM) and digitalized campaign monitoring into routine immunization information systems. This guidance will cover various considerations, including digital readiness and health information system assessments, geospatial and digital microplanning, health management information systems (HMIS), platform and interoperability considerations, and enterprise health systems planning.

Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the Health Specialist – Real-Time Monitoring position, you must meet the following criteria:
- Advanced University Degree (Master’s degree) in public health, data science, statistics, or a related technical field is required. However, a University Degree in a relevant field combined with 2 additional years of professional experience may be accepted in lieu of an Advanced University Degree.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant professional experience at the national and/or international levels in health informatics, health information systems, and/or monitoring, including experience with immunization.
- Experience with digital health, including planning, designing, costing, and supporting implementation of national and sub-national programs.
- Experience with capacity building, including planning, designing, costing, and supporting implementation of national and sub-national programs.
- Experience with Digital Microplanning and Enumeration.
- Fluency in English (written and verbal) is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, Russian, French, or Spanish) is considered an asset.
